Filipe Hovens

General Manager

A Dutch national, Filipe has lived and worked in Africa for more than 20 years. Having grown up in Maputo he has always had a personal connection to Mozambique, and over the years has developed an intimate understanding of the varied range of contexts around the country as well as the challenges faced and which types of solutions will help show the way forward.

With a background in Development Studies and Political Science, Filipe joins the team at Tuya Consulting to use his expertise to lead the company into an exciting and interesting new phase. In particular, his past experiences have helped hone skills in research, data collection & analysis, project management and communication. His experiences to date have largely centered on rural development, governance, civil society engagement and public-private sector collaboration in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Fluent in English, Portuguese, and Dutch, Filipe is excited to use his experience and enthusiasm to deliver useful and tangible outcomes for the communities and the beneficiaries that we serve through our efforts to improve livelihoods in Mozambique.

Emilio Zondane

Administrative Coordinator

Emilio joins the Tuya Consulting team, to coordinate and process the company’s documents and to manage the office space. He is fluent in Portuguese and Changana, and has experience working in northern and southern Mozambique. He is also working diligently to improve his English skills.

With knowledge in document processing, he has worked in accounting and auditing and has experience in opening new companies, hiring local staff, and billing. He is very confident and qualified in the work that he does. He cares about producing good results and has the necessary skills to fulfil his position as coordinator.
